About David Corkum
I’ve been chasing light since I was a young boy. A fourth-generation photographer with a camera practically fused to my hand. Back then, it was family and friends who humoured my early experiments. Today, it’s world-class clients who trust me to bring their stories to life. The passion hasn’t faded. If anything, it’s deepened.
Recently, I’ve expanded my portfolio to include dynamic portraits of young people at play. Whether swinging a bat, cheerleading, painting, or making music, I capture striking images while creating moments rooted in their hobbies and passions. It’s the experience that leaves a lasting impression, turning each session into something meaningful beyond the photograph.
I’ve never been a point-and-shoot kind of guy. I see the world in layers; composed, considered, and quietly cinematic. Long before the shutter clicks, I’ve already mapped the moment: the sparkle in a smile, the glint off a cymbal, the sheen on a classic car, or the perfect glisten on a French fry. That kind of detail doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of curiosity, preparation, and a relentless pursuit of “just right.” Because in my world, good enough isn’t good enough.
Founded in 2005, Corkum Photographics is located just minutes from downtown Moncton, New Brunswick. Our studio includes a fully equipped food styling kitchen and hundreds of curated props. The perfect ingredients for standout food photography. Whether we’re shooting plated elegance or classic cars, we’ve got the tools to make it shine. And if you’d rather we come to you, we’re fully equipped to take our expertise on location. If you do come visit us, you can kick back on our deck and watch the Tidal Bore roll past the backyard.
Collaboration is my fuel. Whether I’m working with designers, art directors, clients, or the subject itself, I thrive on the creative exchange. It’s not just about making an image; it’s about making it matter.
Ask anyone who knows me, I have a particular love for vehicle photography, including cars, motorcycles, or off-road beasts. If it hums, roars, or purrs, I’m in. That blend of precision, patience and passion has shaped a career that’s spanned four decades.
I’m proud to be a graduate of Sheridan College’s Applied Photography program, and honoured to hold a Master of Photographic Arts designation from the Professional Photographers of Canada. Over the years, I’ve earned national recognition including finalist for Commercial Photographer of the Year, winner of Best Product Photograph and Best Editorial, plus a three-time recipient of PPOC Atlantic’s Commercial Photographer of the Year.
Whether I’m in the studio or out on location, I’m still living the dream I had as a kid. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: it feels like I’ve never worked a day in my life. I’m having too much fun.
